Hi.

Very excited to be going to the Pitt-WV game on Friday. I'd like to tailgate but it appears that all of the North Shore lots require pre-sold passes (sold to season ticket-holders, which I am not). So, what are my tailgating options (other than buying one on eBay for 100 bucks)?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Park in a private pay lot nearby and tailgate there.

Thanks for the tip. Looks like there are a few surface lots to the west of Allegheny Ave .... in the general area of the Police Dept. Is that the area you're referring to?

Thanks again.

There are also a lot of garages downtown, some allow tailgating. I'm not sure what the pricing is like over on Western Ave, but I know downtown garages (Ft. Duq Blvd, Penn Ave, and Liberty Ave have a ton of them) generally run $5-$20 on gamedays.

Another thing to consider is that the game is on Friday and it's not a holiday for everyone, so the downtown garages may not be charging their normal gameday prices. For Saturday games it is $5 in the parking authority garages and $6 at Gateway Center. I think the weekday rates are significantly higher.

As far as Western Av lots go, the gravel lot at the corner of Western Av & Fulton Av has always been great for tailgating for Pitt or Steelers games.

There are few lots up there which do allow game-day parking, however they have large "NO TAILGATING" signs posted. Just be on the look out for those.

Park somewhere on the street near West Park for free, walk down, and crash a really good tailgate with a lot of food, beer, and good-looking women.

Allegheny West (West Park) has permit parking only in most locations ($100 ticket). Just be sure to read the signs.

Ah, yes I should have specified. The War Streets area is not permit parking. It's a pretty short walk, too.
