Hey Gnutella, how's the economy doing down your way in GA / are you still thinking about moving to PA?

I see plenty of normal middle class people (and even those less well off than that) living in places like Arlington, Alexandria, and yes even DC. One does not have to be wealthy at all to live in those places. Many young middle class people in their 20's get a roommate if they want to live in those places, I know half a dozen friends who do just that!

They've probably lived there since before The Great American Real Estate Lottery began in 1999. Makes all the difference.

The point that some here have made though is that Pittsburgh is affordable enough that you don't need to do that unless you want to.

The economy is still struggling down here. My college degree got me a job at a convenience store. The job is OK, and my boss is good to me, but I only took the job because they were the only ones offering full-time work. Unless you work for the University of Georgia, there's not much opportunity these days.

I'm still considering moving to Pittsburgh, but some of it also depends on a love interest of mine in a certain Midwest city that I won't name right now. She and I had a big fight about a month ago, so now I'm left feeling uncertain about whether or not it's worth it to pursue her.

" One forgives to the degree that one loves"... I hope it still works out Gnutella.
It would be great if you could move here with your girlfriend and have lots of kids to help repopulate the Burgh. It really is a nice city to raise a family in!

That'd be a tough sell because she's a lifelong resident of the city she's from, and she's very proud of it too.

Hopefully I'll get another chance with her.

LOL at the "Recovery" bit... they can say it all they want, but the ever-increasing national unemployment rate doesn't lie.

What city is she from? Maybe if you tried to show her Pittsburgh she may find it to be a decent place to nice that isn't that different from where she is from (minus our hills lol).
