I used to live on West 6th St. by Walnut, worked downtown and often traveled via Parade St. to Wattsburg, Wesleyville, and Harborcreek, and occasionally walked around the lower east side and was always dumbfounded by the locals who insisted it was some sort of dangerous ghetto gangland. I still hear anecdotes about it from those living up there. The residential section seems on par with Beechview or Carrick, and if a place like Beechview or Carrick is the worst section of a city, then it's probably not too bad of a city.

There is so much I miss about Erie. All the so called ghetto areas? Yeah, I've biked through them or walked through them all.

I responded to a Letter to the Editor in the Erie Times recently. The writer was complaining that Erie drivers were the "worst in the world", and I cordially invited her to come ride with me for a day in Pittsburgh. I miss Asbury Woods and Presque Isle, and I miss being able to get to Peak N Peek in 35 minutes.

I've read a lot of comments from folks that have moved away and a lot of them end up missing it like you I do. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot I love about living down here, but I miss just as much about living in Erie.
