I just came back from giant eagle and saw some clown with a cart full of Gatorade. He probably had 8 of the 12 pack cases, so pushing 100 bottles. I know Gatorade isn't as hard to get as toilet paper or hand sanitizer, but it really annoyed me to see people acting this way. Giant eagle should have a limit on this stuff. Has anyone confronted someone like this yet?

No. I have better tings to do with my time than to berate someone who is afraid and coping in whatever way they can. If buying a cartload of Gatorade makes them fee better then more power to them.

I have not, things annoy me but I also do not know the details. There are still many people doing good in the community so unless I know the background I try not to judge. I have an elderly mother in a senior community so if she needs something or anyone there does I might get it for them (they have been fine to date) so I could be buying more than someone thinks I need. There are also maybe places providing free meals to the community so he could have been buying more than normal to include w/ a meal. Maybe not but unless I know I try to just worry about me.

What's an acceptable threshold for Gatorade purchases?

OP - you have NO idea why he was purchasing so much - it may very well be for workers that he is still paying/trying to pay that are doing hard, physical work. Did you NEED to go grocery shopping today?

People should stock up because the panic is over. All stores are filled that I go to. Buy a lot so you can stay home away from people.

Almost made a comment the other day in the men's room. Guy went straight from the urinal to the blow hand dryer.

Never saw that one before. Guess he thought the heat would sterilize them.

The only people so far whom I've had to restrain myself from shaming are:

Good citizens on NextDoor who ask to whom they should report perceived violations. Some of these folks would have been a credit to mid-20th-century East Germany.

Hysterical over-reactors, like the lady going into the Squirrel Hill post office ahead of me who didn't hold the door behind her for me (apparently better to make me touch the door handles too than to allow me within 3 feet of her back) and who then literally shrank back into a corner with a grimace of fear when two folks exited at the same time.

In general, people who seem intent on controlling other people's behavior. I get the impression that these coronavirus lockdown weeks are glory days for some folks, who now have a license to scold and chastise and inform and in general tell other folks what to do, almost always in the imperative mood.

No offense intended to the OP; I understand the frustration of empty grocery shelves. I'm just shocked at how quickly we can start to degenerate into a band of frightened primates slinging poo.

My daughter works at Target, outside of a few items there is not much empty. TP and sanitizer come in regular but yes you need to be there early. Our Target has a small fresh groceries section and the only thing not always there is ground beef.
