Hello,
I was kind of hoping you guys could help me out. I am currently seeking an apartment fit for one person(efficiency, small, size doesnt matter). It has to be no more than $550 a month. I need my own apartment for personal reasons(dont recommend a sublet, i know they are cheaper, but this is kind of non-negotiable).

Requirements:
1. Has to be in area safe enough for 19 year old female to walk around during daytime.
2. Has to be on busline so that I can get groceries.
3. Short term rental (may-august).

In order of preference:
1. short term
2. safe
3. on bus line

I tried craigslist, and there seems to be nothing short term at all... Perhaps you know someone operating at a loss with apartment sales willing do do something short term?

Listings on craigslist only last a mere 5-7 days before they are gone, and I had more than 50% of my tours cancelled on me so far...this market is terrible, and if i dont find something by may I have to move back home(there is no room there so id be crashing on the floor or something).

Are you opposed to subletting an entire apartment, versus just a room?

metalforever,

The rental market is in high demand in Pittsburgh. You'll pay top dollar for a short term rental unless you get a sublet. Sublets here are basically taking over someone else's lease. The right sublet could be perfect for you. Sometimes it will be your own personal apartment because the tenant is leaving permanently and needs to find someone to finish out the lease. If you sublet, the rental price will be more reasonable than renting with a short term lease.

This sublet meets all of your criteria. It's in a fantastic location. Pittsburgh Shadyside apartment sublet (http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/sub/2289352956.html - broken link)

I was wondering about short term (3month or month to month) rentals as well; any options besides Craigslist that don't cost an arm & a leg?
