Why do I get the feeling all these smaller banks merging is just going to lead to Pittsburgh have more "Too Big to fail" banks coming a shore....Right now PNC pretty much has Pittsburgh as a "too big" bank on Lock, but in 10 years time I do see that being challenged with more of these regional banks being swallowed up (as well as maybe even Citizens), the Burgh has an overload of them.

I do see 2 or maybe even 3 national banks buying their way into the Burgh.....I'm hearing Chase is already looking to get into PA as its the only state in the Northeast where it doesn't have a presence. We already know BofA want to be Everywhere they already have ATM in the Burgh with no offices. Citibank has set up shop in Philadelphia and is moving westward. Wells Fargo already big in the Eastern side of the state, could they too be looking to move West?

True, we might be consolidating our way to a few banks covering the country. Hopefully one will be PNC. If Mellon had played its cards better, it might have taken over Wachovia rather than Wells Fargo.

But other banking upstarts still continue to pop up. Must be easier than it looks.

Drop them all and go with Northwest Savings, headquartered in Warren PA. No, I don't work for them -- but they're really great.
