Puts things in a more personal light. What a shame.

Yes, it is absolutely horrible.

No arrests yet.

They canceled all games at that field for this year and possibly forever. 30+ neighbors wanted to meet with the school board, the league and the police to discuss their future. Instead of meeting, they just sent us a message saying it is canceled.

I posted this and I forgot that the Superintendent of PPS lives just a few blocks away too:

The mayor's chief of staff lives a few doors from the incident, another mayoral staff member lives 2 blocks from the incident, Councilman Dowd lives 3 blocks from the incident and Senator Ferlo lives 4 blocks away.

This blows my mind. The shooter wasn't a stranger. The witnesses know who did it.

My prediction is that they are trying to put together a bunch of charges rather than just murder and they are trying to link it to more than one person.

Sometimes the suspect is already in jail and they don't announce anything to the media until the trial starts. Who knows.

Growing up in the city sucks, not the burbs. I think the kids in my district have it better than I did. Heck I know they have it better.

Your kids are still young. You have no clue what's happening with the older suburban kids. There are serious drugs in the suburbs, especially the most affluent suburbs because those children have crazy access to money. The only upside is that their parents can afford to pay for quality residential rehab in another state. Think your taxes are high? Start saving now for rehab, just in case, since you're self insured for healthcare. I'm talking like a few hundred thousand dollars to save your kid. If you're going to hang with wealth, you've gotta be financially prepared for the fall out.

Seems you have been drinking tonight. Things are amazing in this district. Kids are going to Ivy League schools left and right and really are doing great. I have no idea what you are talking about with drugs and such. Anyway, I have no kids below High School. Good try though. Sure in the city you are going through metal detectors and there are shootings and whatever, but come on. That isn't a concern out in the burbs. Not just where I am, but most of the better areas. I do feel sorry for the city kids though. That would be really hard if you have to deal with public schools in the PPS system.

Are you living under a rock? Kids getting into Ivy League schools isn't any indication whatsoever of drug usage. As I said, their parents have the money to save them. Suburban kids are getting into heavy drugs these days. Crazy drugs we would have never touched when we were kids. Heck, drugs I've never even seen. Middle class families are forclosing on their homes trying to save their kids. Wealthy families are able to save their kids without anyone noticing. If your kids are in high school, and you truly have no clue what I'm talking about, I recommend you pull your head out of the sand and learn quickly. It's always the kids of the parents who have no clue.
