Does anyone know any good tailors in the city. The ones I find only do sleeve & leg hemming. I have some decent alterations that need done to a suit & at a loss to find a tailor that does such work here. Thanks!

There's a little old lady who does tailoring at Footer's in Squirrel Hill, though I've only ever had her do pants/waists. The one time I asked if she could take in a suit coat in the shoulders, or trim down the shoulder pads, she balked and said it would make it too tight across the stomach.

I've also taken a few of my wife's things to Rocky's, on Liberty in Bloomfield, with good results on taking in waists and changing hemlines. If I find I can't live with the shoulders on that suit I may see if the tailor there is more willing to take a crack at it (seriously, the rest of the fit is great but I feel like it's 1984 or I'm some Generalissimo with giant epaulets).

I used Irene's on Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill for a rush job (I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding, the dress was delayed getting in, and when it finally did come a few days before the wedding it was about eight inches too long and needed a couple other changes) and it came out very well. I believe the shop has changed names in the last year or so, but it's the one close to William Penn Jewelers.

Not in the city but I have had a few suit jackets taken in by a tailor in Fox Chapel. He is on Freeport Road a couple doors down from Baskins and Robbins Ice Cream.

Not the city. I have one in the suburbs. She lives near Passavant. She was the tailor for the men's department at JC Penny back when JC Penny had tailors. If you're interested in going to the suburbs, I'll find her last name and contact information for you.

I use DiStilo tailoring on the corner of Forward Ave and Shady Ave (412) 422-6222. Mr DiStilo sadly died last year, but the business was taken over by his cousin and she is great. She has taken in some jackets for me and did a great job. Things will not get done in a hurray, though.

Alterations by Rina on Brookline Blvd. I know she does suits, and will tailor an entire suit for approximately $50, and sometime can get you a quick turn around if you need it soon.
