Apparently the city snow total was more like 2" though, but perhaps with thicker ice? The line between things was very close by it seems.
That's exactly what happened here in a North Sewickley in Beaver. Just got through checking on the chickens (whom seem quite pissed at it all as their entire run is snow covered) and playing with the dogs. It is nice now but our street and walkways were ice for a bit. Worse at 9 am than when I was driving at 6 am.

I have been trying to find some. Being a Basset, his paws are hard to fit.

Oh, don't get me started. The deer were in the yard this morning too! Their hoof prints were everywhere. I thought I saw ticks on top of the ice, but hubby says they are leaves. A live one can fall off a deer and the Basset could pick it up before it freezes. I wouldn't let him smell the hoof prints. Remember, he got ticks when the temps were near zero.

I took him to the vet. The game plan is alternate treatments---Revolution every other month and one that kills ticks every other month. That way he'll get the benefits of all things since the pesticide usually lasts longer than a month.

How do chickens act when they're pissed?

Oh, I grew up with chickens. They definitely speak their minds, and will let you know when they are displeased. Feeling sorry for you today, hinsey!

I love the fact the ground remains damp and wet most of winter and combined with the freeze/thaw cycle, makes a nice pretty ice skating rink. Those winter haters can move to Arizona. This is paradise

It could be worse, you could live somewhere where it is just freeze until spring. I have a friend that lives in northern Michigan and it rarely if ever gets about the mid 30's in the winter. I much prefer our location below the jetstream that allows for temperatures in the 50's and 60's to occur during the winter.

I'd RATHER it be "freeze until Spring". How many more potholes do I have to hit?!

Ride a bus and let the Port Authority hit the potholes.
