I never understood why someone wants to have some fun to the side, but keep their marriage/relationship.

if you're bored then leave and move on.

Neither have I.

If you have to have an "open" relationship or take your spouse to a swingers club, then you don't belong together, period. A relationship without boundaries is meaningless.

I certainly wouldn't put it past Ashley Madison to fabricate data to 'normalize' the use of their services.

I think most open relationships and swingers still have boundaries, they are just different than the typical boundaries society expects. I don't think it's that hard to see how some people can separate the emotional aspect of a relationship from the physical aspect. If they do so with all parties' consent, then more power to them. Though I don't think Ashley Madison is really targeting people in open/swinging relationships.

Life gets more complicated. I have zero respect for any parent who leaves for simply being sexually bored.

It is way too easy to read that the wrong way.

I'll elaborate. I have one friend who left his wife and two children for a younger women he had been having a affair with because he "was bored" and "just wasn't feeling it anymore." I have another friend who hasn't been faithful to his wife since the day he married her in high school after he got her pregnant. They've been married for over 40 years. He supported and provided a stable home for his wife and four children and feels a deep commitment to taking care of his wife for the rest of their lives. I am repulsed by my first friend. I have incredible respect for my second friend.

Maybe if these PA men would actually DO SOME OF THE ACTUAL WORK OF RAISING THEIR OWN CHILDREN, and ACTUALLY DO SOME HOUSECLEANING, COOKING, CHILDCARE, ETC., INSTEAD OF LEAVE THE WIFE AT HOME WITH ALL OF IT, they would not have so much free time alone in which to get so bored. It's just a thought.

Now, that's nuts, too. Why do I say that? Because they have FOUR, count 'em, FOUR children now. And yet the man wasn't ever faithful? Then what he has is a harem, not a marriage. Oh, wait, unless, of course, not all of those are his biological children. Now, that would certainly be more fair, in my estimation. He plays, she plays.

People are nuckingfutz here. Run, BarqCider, run far away!
