When my house was being shown, I packed up the most valuable stuff and moved it to a storage unit rented for the duration. I bought a safe for papers and valuables. I also kept stuff locked in the trunks of my cars. All good jewelry went to the safe deposit box and stayed there for the duration.

I will also recommend Renter's Insurance. It's pretty cheap.

Yep. It's a good value. I was really glad I had it many years ago when my place was robbed.

It's no better when you are dealing with realtors trying to sell your house. I got so frustrated with the
way they would use that little key lockbox on the front door to let themselves in at any hour. Generally with
NO advance notice.

Last straw was when they barged in around 9AM on a Sunday with the whole family lounging
around in their PJ's. Don't think I would ever allow a realtor to keep a keybox on my door ever again.

I always request 24 hour notice (or at least the day before). Never had any issues except one agent one time.
