Thought this would be a good map to post incase people want to have an understanding of where and who is getting murdered. Sure are some bad areas in our region, but some safe ones as well. Enjoy the holiday!

I wonder is the stand your ground law had anything to do with the decreased murder rate, there were three deaths the other day in Bloomfield where the shooter is not getting charged

Do you have a link to the three deaths? Would they be considered murder if no stand your ground?

Actually the murder rate has increased in the past three years, which isn't surprising. Lets face it, with the Internet and media hype, we are going to get more violent. That is what the powers want. Lots of divide and confusion so the top dogs can have more smoke and mirrors going on. It is what it is.

Pittsburgh-area man 'unintentionally' shot 2 in pursuit of would-be robber | TribLIVE Mobile

The murder rate dropped drastically a few years ago I am not sure when the law went into effect. A few years ago I was working in McKeesport there was a break in and the intruder was killed, the homeowner was charged with manslaughter

If you just do a search on stand your ground and murder rates, it seems that the rates actually increase, but lets face it, there is so much propaganda out there, it is hard to know for sure. Best to just look at real numbers and make a determination. I do think Pittsburgh will become safer as the super poor get driven out. Lets hope the trend continues, to make Pittsburgh a pretty good place again. It was once a great place, but times are different now due to massive student debt.

A large chunk of the "super poor" are the elderly. But screw that, let's keep kicking them out of their neighborhoods (heavy on the sarcasm).

I don't worry about elderly much in this current generation. Who has the most power? Baby boomers. Therefore, no politician will mess with the elderly because it would be political suicide. When my generation is elderly, we will be screwed, but whatever. Nothing will be left after the boomers get done with the US anyway.

Yeah, that's surely what's causing all of these murders. God-darn college kids running wild!

The only thing that the PA stand your ground law does is removes the duty to retreat from place where it is lawful for you to be. You still can only use deadly force if you believe it is immediately necessary to do so to protect himself against death, serious bodily injury, kidnapping, or sexual intercourse by force or threat. Of course you have to be able to show that your belief was reasonable, so you cannot just say you felt you were in danger.

So again, there is no change in the state's self defense law other than removing the duty to retreat.

Before the change even if you were under threat and you killed someone you could be charge with murder if you were able to flee. This is a big change to the self defense law. There was the boy last year who killed a man with a knife to protect his dad who was fighting a man in his driveway. Under the old law the kid would have been charged with manslaughter, but I believe he was found not guilty.
