Has anyone ever have a lung biopsy done, what was it like, how did they do it, can I go to work next day? Or would I be down for awhile. Thanks in advance.

I peed a little blood for 2 days after my prostrate biopsy, I imagine you'd be coughing up blood for a few days after the lung biopsy.

Coughing up blood is sort of anti-social, you'd probably want to take 2 days off if you have any kind of work in an office or working with the public.

My father is 67, in somewhat poor health, and had one done about a month ago at the VA. He was a little sore but otherwise OK immediately afterwards and was able to go home a few hours later. I think he was up and around the next day.

Thank you, do you know how they did it, I can't find anything on the internet that is helpful.

Hope you are doing ok. I usually use Cleveland or Mayo Clinic sites for research as well as webMD. Here is their take on it...

Looks like recovery time varies from rest of day for outpatient or few days in hospital after more extensive procedure. Maybe try for a Friday?
Hoping for a healthy outcome.

You might want to do a search on "liquid biopsies". Not sure if any of the hospitals locally are doing it yet, but it cuts out the invasive methods previously used.

Yea, I had pneumonia 3 times in the last year and a half, I went for a ct scan and they found a tumor, everything I saw online they use a needle and go in to test it, but it is bigger and they said they may remove it. Not sure how they do it.

A friend recently had a lung biopsy. She was fine the day after. But it might depend on how they get at the tissue to be biopsied; you probably need to ask your doctor's office what to expect. Best of luck.
