His stock in trade here is to make deliberately inflammatory statements with offensive undertones, and then to play stupid when he's called on them, like the forums version of a weird old racist uncle. Apparently he's gotten five years of milage out of that gimmick. What a sad way to spend your time.

I am done with him, he should be outed as what he is, a world class troll with no positive commentary here, just vitriol. He's on ignore now, resisted it for a long time, got tired of the childishness.

I haven't heard anyone in favor other than political/government figures who are in favor of those who feel the assistance should be given. I believe 50% of the nations political/government figures do not.

I work in big corporate America and the people I asked are from Texas and Virigina, so I did not survey some bleeding heart liberals.

You inference that I have something to gain from the progressive and liberal ideas that I believe in is entertaining. I gain very little if anything from the initiatives I endorse. I make too much money for assistance, and not enough to the welfare thrown at the 1%. I do however have empathy for others.

The internet is no place for empathy, pal.

Public opinion on accepting the refugees in the U.S., according to the last polling, was pretty sharply divided, but narrowly in favor.

Of course, this was before the Paris attacks, still, it's not as if there isn't a substantial proportion of people who support bringing in the refugees.

My biggest problem with this is that once again this country is shrugging off the accountability for its Middle Eastern misadventures after 9-11. The US had a large part in creating this refugee crisis and we are not holding ourselves responsible. And it's the people who led the charge to war back then who are loudest about keeping Syrians out today. It's shameful.

I doubt those stats hold any water since but I'm curious to see actual stats after the attack.
