Give him a Primanti sandwich for life, PAT ride free pass, Season tickets for the Steelers and Pens, but leave out the Bucs.

Maybe we can give him majority ownership of the Pirates. Two birds, one stone n'at.

I am going out on a limb because I have been thinking about this for a while. If I was Amazon, I would consider Pittsburgh very seriously and here is why. The airport is WAY under used and that could be a huge advantage. There is a TON of space here for them and they could grow with the city. That wouldn't be the case with other east coast cities. Amazon would actually be able to form part of Pittsburgh. I think Amazon would be in the south hills area, or the south part of the city because it makes sense for them to be close to the airport. I really think the Pittsburgh area has a real chance the more I look at it. Our city is very small compared to 50 years ago and we are ripe to grow. Amazon AND Pittsburgh could grow together. It could be huge for both. The eastern cities are huge and won't be manipulated as easily. We could accommodate Amazon like no other city, unless they look at Cleveland, which isn't as nice or Buffalo, which is not good due to crazy winters. Amazon, you need to look at Pittsburgh pretty close. I think you would be VERY happy here because we could develop together. Talk about a win-win!

I think we have a shot, or at least to make a final list. No city has everything they want. I agree about the airport possibilities. Why go to a city with an overcrowded and delay-prone airport like Philadelphia, New York (all three airports), or Washington? We have a great airport with room for easy flight expansion. We have urban and suburban locations ready to go, we have existing buildings (since Amazon seems to like retrofitting), we have the cost of living, and most importantly, we have the universities that churn out the people they hire.

50,000 people over 10 or 15 years is a lot, since each job will spin-off additional jobs. But I think we could be a blank slate for them and I think they will give us a serious look.

Seattle just tossed its hat in the ring, making me wonder if this whole thing was a ploy to get Seattle to subsidize Amazon's expansion.

I don't think Amazon would have such a ploy, but it is an interesting angle.

Interesting indeed. Make Seattle feel like they aren't good enough for an expanded HQ and take business elsewhere and see if they cave.

""With an unmatched portfolio of technological talent and intriguing development parcels, Pittsburgh is uniquely positioned to submit a winning bid for Amazon's facility," Mayor Bill Peduto said"

How does Pittsburgh have an "unmatched portfolio of technology talent"?
