It's much easier to break ground when there aren't any NIMBYs dead set on killing a project.

Don't get me wrong - there is a time and place for NIMBYism to kill bad proposals - but so much of the recent NIMBYism I've seen in the city (especially South Side and Mt. Washington) has been rooted in pure nonsense.

I can only imagine the noise, as well. Who would want to live in a place when you can't open a window?

What excessive noise would that be?

Direct quote from the article, "No word yet on how affordable these units will be".

Don't worry, plenty of section 8 stuff in that Penguins development.

Probably the train, but I don't think it sounds the horn in that area and I don't find it all that loud when I am riding my bike along the trails there. The location is about as good as it could get with great views of the city and just really a great spot. I can't believe it was just an empty lot for so long.

i love new development. but development doesn't bring residents. development accompanied by jobs brings new residents to an area. without jobs it just shuffles to population around an area.

Well, it will bring more people downtown, which is good for the city. Hopefully, some will move in from places like Cranberry or Robinson but that's wishful thinking.

i guess i don't see someone moving in from robinson or cranberry to these places. more likely it would be someone from shadyside or the like. but i guess that will lower prices in those places
