Can anyone recommend someone who is an expert in sandstone foundations for older homes (100+ years) in the area regarding issues of waterproofing, pointing, etc.? Thank very much.

Unfortunately those walls are very porous. who ever you get to point it make sure they use the correct mortar. If they use one for brick or block it will not last and negatively affect the current wall.

If you want to have the foundation completely dry, i always recommend on sandstone foundations to excavate and install an exterior french drain and apply a silicone or similar foundation coating. You can't skimp on the gravel or recycled concrete to save some money.
