just because you throw a lot of money at a neighborhood and use the media to hype it up beyond reason,
doesn't mean it's gonna be a success

It's sad how people who don't live in Pittsburgh spend more time thinking about Pittsburgh than people who actually live in Pittsburgh.

And your post is anecdotal evidence of you or someone walking around Pittsburgh’s many buildings and taking photos proves what? Clearly I can post data that would show the % of vacant new buildings versus old building or how many tenant occupants we do have in the city. Then you would have some type of discussion to go on. Until then your main post is inadequate and anecdotal.

I give them credit for trying, but most folks in that immediate area do not have the spending power to support the types of business that typically occupy those spaces. You can redo a building and make it grand anywhere, but businesses are in business to make money. It’s evident there isn’t money to be made or people would’ve filling those spaces.

The metro pays lower than average wages. Over educated and underpaid population. Local officials pander to a tiny group of people that aren’t enough in number to support those nice businesses alone. Look where Peduto won and underperformed or lost in city neighborhoods. The majority of people don’t see the city working for them and a little more than a third do.

I spent last evening in downtown Greensburg and was impressed. There were vacancies but I see a younger population supporting the businesses and restaurants there. A long way to go there too. But there is families there. Something missing from east liberty

this forum is hilarious because when you take the time to make an original post that someone thinks is dumb, instead of just ignoring the post and moving on to the next one, they write how "this post is inadequate and anecdotal" and doesn't prove anything!

like we're in court or graduate school or something

"I can post data that would show the % of vacant new buildings versus old building or how many tenant occupants we do have in the city. Then you would have some type of discussion to go on."!!!!

go for it, dude - sounds fascinating
