95% of serious crime problems are confined to our cities, and this includes Pittsburgh. It's not density. Dormont has the highest density in the region and there's not over the top crime there. It's the people who live in the city, and in cities in general.

It was tolerable while the old commuting system still existed, as suburban workers weren't outside much except to walk to their offices from their transportation.

Now, for the majority of time, no one except criminals has a reason to go into the city. The Left is killing their own beloved cities, first with lockdowns, now with crime.

What is their plan? Do they have one or Is it just stupidity? I've met people who are that stupid and they typically are female liberals or teenaged liberals. Come to think of it, I don't know a single adult male who voted for Biden, so unless someone has a better explanation, I have to go with stupidity as their reason for destroying that which they claim to value so highly.

yeah, ive said that at times - its the predominant culture. these 'cultures' may have existed in different places and different eras.

at one time, the Federal government was petitioned to send out the military to the western territories (Dodge City, et al) because the violence was out of hand and people were actually murdering with impunity.

there was the mafia in Chicago, and even in places in the east, like Youngstown, where they wreaked havoc in a local level.

but this, what we have now, considering the US land mass is 'full' and in some kind of stable period, is now an acceptable level of violence. people even joke - "go down to Pittsburgh and get shot?", or if from the city "go down to Carson street alone and end up mugged or murdered...."

this country can still be the most amazing....i dont understand with so much food, potential for most individuals (MOST, if they apply themselves, although admittedly nothing is perfect and there are cases where some "slip thru the cracks"), and with so much to offer for personal fulfillment...yet we have a culture of guns and 'fire first....run away very soon thereafter'.

This, absolutely. I see very few dead cars on the sides of the road in Pennsylvania compared to other states, and my trip there last week reinforced this. I saw only one dead car the entire time I was driving in Pennsylvania, and I drove for about 1,000 miles.

I also don't see any cars on the road in Pennsylvania with major body damage or driveability problems. In Georgia, not only are the roads littered with dead cars, but also, one of every 10 cars or so is missing a bumper or a headlight, or otherwise has body damage severe enough to make them less driveable, such as busted suspensions and sprung doors. I've seen cars with their fenders caved in and one of the wheels sitting crooked. Every now and then, I'll see a car with no hood, or a missing fender, or a door tied shut. And every time I drive at night, I see multiple poorly-aimed headlights.

Bottom line, people need to take care of their cars if they expect to drive.
