I'll be moving in the spring (maybe sooner) from Florida to Pittsburgh.I've been a painter for 25 years and a licensed contractor for 10.I might eventually get licensed up there but need to go to work painting immediately after I move.Down here it is very slow. Can a painter make a decent living year round up there?

You will most definitely not make a living year-round. Business is dead from Nov-Mar. If you are working for another contractor you will most likely be on unemployment. If you are self-employed, you will need a winter job.

I disagree...

I have several neighbors that are having multiple rooms painted right now - in November - in preparation for the holidays.
And I know of two more whose paint jobs start after Thanksgiving in preparation for Christmas.

Business is definitely NOT dead from November to March!

I'm with pitt chick. November to March, for me, is interior renovation season. (In some unlucky years, it's also been plumbing repair season as well.)
