Does anyone use a good vet on the east side of the city? I have tried the one in Point Breeze, which I liked, but it was very expensive. We have been going to the Greenfield Veterinary Hospital, but we are unhappy with it for several reasons. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I take my dog to Pittsburgh Spay and Vaccination Clinic on Sandy Creek Road in Penn Hills. I like them a lot, and they're quite reasonable.

PENN ANIMAL HOSPITAL in the Strip...super-super-duper quality care at about 1/2 the cost of most vets. That's a win-win in my book.

knee surgery on lab: 1st go 'round with another vet $4,000, and the knee didn't heal properly. Went to Penn Animal and $1,500 and the knee is as good as new.

removal of rocks from lab's stomach (don't ask!): local vet $3,000. Penn Animal: $1,200. Went to Penn and rocks are gone, incision is all healed up, and I have a healthy pup.

Frontline and Heartguard are cheap there too.

We have been shopping for the past two years and just found someone we like - Companion Animal Medical Center in Monroeville. We didn't like Point Breeze or East End, but we love this place.
The vet is awesome - both knowledgeable and was fine with our fear biter. It's also very cheap. We thought our rottie needed xrays for hip dysplasia but he suggested we look at her elbows instead - we also insisted they xray her hips. Anyway, they took about 12-15 xrays, put her under to do them, and she stayed there all day while we were at work. Total bill was around $200. I paid $200 in 2000 for three xrays at another vet, so this seemed like a steal.
