I moved to the Burgh in May from thr NYC and I still haven't found a good place to get a haircut. I asked this question before and tried two of the places recommended, one was Mec in Mt. Lebanon and the other was VIP styles downtown, Mec was a nice place but both times i went in there I got the same lady and both times I wasn't very happy. VIP is more geared towards the African American community, they did a good job on the sides but didn't use scissors at all, used the buzzer for the top of my head basically giving me a flat top. I'm a white guy with thick straight/wavy hair and am looking for a Barber shop/Salon that is more GQ then it is old school high and tight type place. Any suggestions? thanks

Try Philip Pelusi. They cut men as well as women's hair. They're all over the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and have been in business for YEARS, so they must be doing something right..

I walk past this salon, everyday...Dean's of Shadyside. They are defintely "GQ" just like you are requesting. Since they're street level, I've seen men, in there, on occasion, getting their hair cut and done.

I will second this. I am a 23 year old man, and have never been dissapointed with Dean's. If you want something a little cheaper, there is a place called 'sports cuts' in the waterworks off freeport road that is pretty good. It isn't the same quality as deans, but if price is an issue I would check it out.

It's probably a bit of a drive for you; but seriously, go to Dimensions in Hair in Springdale. Get the owner, Kathy, to do it. You won't be disappointed.
