I didn't see anything on this yet and the story just came out

Three shot at football field near old Peabody High - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

I know a lot of people were talking about how this area is so much better now with the students from Obama (which I completely agree with) but it's not to say violence is removed from that school now.

How horrible is it that you have to worry about your safety when going to watch your kids play football in the coveted East End? And this was a PEE WEE game. How old are those kids? Around 6-12?

OMG! That's horrible.

The article doesn't provide much information.

Was it a drive by? Was it an argument that escalated because someone had a gun?

It's it on the news right now?

I don't know many of the details of this, but I do know a few things:

1. The peewee football isn't associated with the school. They just use the field (for the time being).
2. The shooting happened in the stands between "fans" or attendees.
3. A lot of neighbors have been trying to get this either shut down or completely regulated. The parking is insane (meaning most of the attendees aren't too local), the litter is out of control and now the violence has escalated.

Wilkinsburg beefs with a lot of people these days... Wilkinsburg along with places like: St. Clair Village (demolished) now Knoxville, Aliquippa, Garfield, Larimer, Lincoln, Homewood, East Hills, Hazelwood, Homestead, North Braddock, Braddock, Duquesne, McKeesport, Clairton, the Northside hoods & the Hill District have always been known to be hostile when they encounter gangsters from most other hoods (even when they're not rivals).

Yet, they don't bother spectator visitors from suburban teams visiting on their fields.

Seems illogical that they are shooting each other. Makes no sense to me. I'm clearly clueless though.

They updated the article and apparently an argument (likely over nothing, maybe a parking chair?) in Wilkinsburg led to this shooting in the stands.

Cmdr. Doubt said a dispute that led to the shootings began in Wilkinsburg yesterday, continued on Facebook overnight and culminated with the shootings today.

The thing is the police were not scehelude to come to the field until the older kids play. City leuge and Wilkinsburg have heavy police presence at their HS Football day games so things usually don't "pop off".
The sad thing about this is that these 7-9 year old Peewee from Wilkinsburg/Homewood/Lincoln/Larimer football players might grow up learning to hate each other for events like these annual consistent pointless shootings.

Is a police presence new? I don't recall police at Homestead and Perrysville when my kids were playing peewee football. That was ages ago though.

When you are needing police to prevent violence or murder at school football games that should be about the time you cancel those sports programs altogether as your students/parents don't deserve them

About a third of the places mentioned were actually suburban teams, as is Wilkinsburg itself.
