What in his post would lead you to believe he's a nazi sympathizer?

Man, this topic is better discussed around a few brew.

The Nazi's killed more than just Jews. Look at the records. Russia lost almost 23 MILLION people, both military and civilians.

And it's true, Germany never went to war to defend her borders, she started them!

and I'm part German.

Once you accept that as fact (which it is, of course) and then accept that others killed far more people in the same time period, the whole argument for the banning of the non-nazi-context swastika falls apart like so many buildings in Berlin circa 1945. Like I said earlier, even uptight Germany recognizes (and allows) the swastika for non-nazi purposes.

Come on in and close it, Yac. Nobody's posting pictures anyways.

Can you just answer the question: "Are you a Nazi sympathizer?"

You quoted Copanut when you asked that question, genius. How was I supposed to know it was directed at me? The answer: no, I'm not a nazi sympathizer. I can't even capitalize the "n", can I? Although you didn't ask, I'll go further and say I have absolutely no problem with the Semitic people. (diatribe about monotheism and Abraham, the granddaddy of monotheism, redacted to avoid infraction) Anything else you need to know?

Do you have a problem with buddhism or hinduism? You must, if you want to take away their symbols. That's what this thread is really about.

Default Internet posting 101

1. Post something that is true.
2. Be attacked by hysterical members of the herd.
3. Defend statement.
4. Repeat.

Well, before Yac gets here, let me just add a couple of more thoughts...

The Third Reich was unique in that their atrocities took place with the context of a "World War". (The most recent one in fact. I won't go out on a limb and call it the "last" one.) While Stalin and Mao may have compiled more impressive statistics, their atrocities largely took place within their own borders, and involved their own populations. (Hey, while we're at it, let's not forget Cambodia, and even more recent events in Africa.) And yes, I recognize the fact that most of Hitler's victims were his own population as well, but at the time, he was an aggressor against many other states. One can only imagine the eventual scope of the atrocities had he been more successful.

One can liken historic events to a rock being thrown into a pool of water. The splash manifests itself in the form of ever expanding ripples across the surface of the pool. Many people still alive today were there when that particularly big splash occurred, and many of us from younger generations are only a ring or two removed from the splash. That must be taken into account when you're considering people's reaction to the symbol of the regime that was the cause of that.

If we were to survey the studio audience, (like in the TV show "Family Feud"), and ask them to name a symbol that represented a nation intent on genocide, and pretty successful at it, which one do you think would be at the top of the list? I don't think there's any question what the most popular answer would be. That's what makes the swastika stand apart from the rest...

Wow! My guess is that everyone on this thread hates the Nazis and all that they stood for.
