Saw this is in the PG.

It's a $100 million project with 163 rooms 58 condos for a 20 story building with a 2 story lounge and observation deck on top. About time. Although I'd like to see something like Seattle's Space Needle up there.

It is a neat project--I hope they can get the financing. The high-rise portion would be a nice addition to the Mt. Washington skyline, and I am actually even more excited about the plaza (which will be right next to the Mon Incline) and the condos wrapping the hill below (which I think will look very cool from Downtown).

I'd like to see that whole hilltop facing the city "commercialized". Nothing gaudy of course. But a tree lined top with a row of cafes, restaurants, and pubs would be nice and some more attractive hotels.

Here is one rendering from the Downtown side. You can also see some of the villas cascading down the hillside. I am hoping that investors step up and get this project going.

Here is a view of the property from Vinecliffe Street. The Edge Restaurant was a sprawling property. This view gives an idea of the landscape.

This project could be the shot in the arm for Mt. Washington. Typically, a project of this magnitude will attract other businesses to the corridor, usually associated with hotels and tourism.

But unfortunately the question becomes "Does the 'old guard' on Mt. Washington want increased business and traffic?" They supported this proposal but putting anything up there is usually like pulling teeth.

I used to live on Mt. Washington, and while I think this project will be great for the neighborhood, I do get where the "old guard" is coming from. Streets are narrow, buildings are close together, there's very little public parking as is. I don't think the residents want the neighborhood to turn into Shadyside.
