Hey, I am posting this as an attempt to help out The Hollywood theater in Dormont. Their business has not been too well lately and so they need to get the word out to more people. I have been there a few times and I think it's a really awesome place. I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't been there and you are a big fan of movies. It would really be a shame if they had to go out of business because Pittsburgh already doesn't have enough theaters playing older, cult, and b-films. So please help get the word out as well if you know anyone who might enjoy it.

Here is their website for more info-

Thanks!

They're closing after this weekend: Dormont's Hollywood Theater set to close

It's a shame that they couldn't make it work.

It's a rough business, made even rougher by the recession and the guagantuan megaplexes with stadium seating, 3-D, IMAX, reclining seats, and all sorts of food. I personally prefer smaller neighborhood theaters where I can grab a bite beforehand, walk to the movie, and get a quick drink after. Unfortunately, they're a dying breed everywhere.

It was decent but they were playing DVDs. I felt a little cheated paying 7$ to watch a dvd.

I was there twice and the quality of the movies were top notch. Even the old cartoons they showed at the beginning of the movie were great quality. Are you sure they were playing DVDs?

Also, RIP Hollywood Theater.

In related news, the old Cinema 4/South Hills Theater on West Liberty Ave was torn down recently, either to put in a CVS or the parking lot to a CVS.

Thanks for the heads up, used to live in that area, sad to see that place fade away. I guess small theaters just can't make it anymore.
