I don't think ONLY lawyers should be eligible, but I also refuse to discriminate against educated people having the highest office in the land.
I think the problem folks have with lawyers is exactly the fact that they want to write more laws

We need a DOCTOR as a President. They hate paper work

The American people should refrain from "hiring" any more lawyers for President.

Why? Because we already have 535 "lawyers" in the Legislative Branch.

We need a President who's willing to go down in the trenches and fight the battle for the American people without any particular jurisprudence constantly on his mind. We need a President who will roll up his sleeves, put forth a free-flowing Agenda that is idea-driven, needs-driven, and people-driven without constantly thumbing through the pages of the Harvard Law Review in his mind. Let the attorneys in the Legislative Branch hash out the legal details.

I believe Barack Obama suffers from Paralysis By Analysis. We need an action-oriented President in the future, not a legal scholar whose own idiosyncrasies keep him from exercising good leadership.
The US needs businessmen/businesswomen presidents

Unfortunately, the President that America needs is virtually impossible to attain. America needs a President who puts the country first regardless of his/personal agenda or party affiliation. Unfortunately, this won't happen anytime soon because of the party system, big money, and the "buying of the presidency" by special interest groups.

By the time a person gets enough recognition to become a candidate for President, the damage has been done. At that point the candidate is so slick, polished, and encumbered by political baggage that he is totally useless to the voters. I've personally seen it repeatedly where a good person with common sense is elected to state/federal office and returns after the first terms with a painted on smile and a slickness that soap won't wash off. At that point, it's all about power and money, and the "good 'ol boy" is lost forever.

Same goes for a President, but I do agree that there is entirely too many lawyers in our legislative process, whether it be state or local.

Agree 1000%!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lawyers are crooks by nature. It is no wonder that our politicians are crooks!

I'm confused - we have a really good president now who is a lawyer. So, it creates a bit of a flaw in your core argument.

I think your time machine is set to 1860. Please correct your error. When you arrive in the present, you will find an incompetent corrupt fool in the white house and will probably want to return to 1860.

Oh you darn lawyers and teachers. You and all your long explanation of laws. Just give us the sparknotes or "Law & legislation for dumbies". We need real leaders and street smart people like GEORGE BUSH AND SARAH PALIN running our country.

Lord help us if we return to "tyranny of the retarded" like we had 2001-2009.

I am on equal footing with the President education-wise, if not MORE educated.

There is no prejudice against education coming from me. Let's be clear about that.

I'm referring to the mindset, not the level of education. There is a difference. I'm guessing that niether of you understand that.

The two engineer presidents were not distinguished, by most accounts. Hoover and Carter
