You know what? That's really uncalled for. No, it wasn't the best speech. But he DIDN'T talk about global warming, cap & tax, etc. It was a bad speech because of how bland it was and how there wasn't enough, "umph." Call it what it was, but call it bad for the reasons it was bad. Don't lie.
Pretty much the same across the board. Pathetic, disappointing, useless, meaningless, playing politics in an attempt to push his Cap&Tax.
Can we say now for certain that the WH staffers and obama are completely tone deaf? They are mostly young, inexperienced, immature ideologues (exactly like their boss) who have no idea what they are doing. Imagine coming out with a speech like that, at this late date in the crisis.
Yes, we'd all like to see that happen, at least the first two. Reiterating his desires did absolutely nothing to tell the American people what his PLAN is to contain and clean up the oil. And the reason is - HE DOESN'T HAVE A PLAN, after 60 days, no plan.
Do watch the CNN video, where even David Gergen has a hard time stomaching the rhetoric.
And one of the gentlemen with Cooper asks a really great question at the end.
"Alternative energy makes up only 3% of all the energy in this country.
No nukes, no oil, no transmission lines for wind and solar, what is it exactly
we're going to do to get up to alternative energy where it can CARRY this country's energy needs."
He's right - nobody ever asks the president that question.
These two local officials are really on point and focused on the issues.
Come on, let's be real here... there is nothing that he could have said or done under any circumstances that you would approve of.

No, it was a bad speech because it was just empty words, with no action plan behind those words. Obama has no orderly plan in place after 60 days to clean up this mess. He is clueless. He obviously hasn't wised up yet that the US public doesn't want a speech, they want action.

Why is that uncalled for? One can assume that his ardent supporters would have loved the speech, empty and pathetic as it was.

Doesn't matter what I think. It's amazing how disappointed and deflated the Left is.
White House aides say he still supports a tax on carbon, but he didn't mention it last night, an omission that probably disappointed environmentalists.
Oh yeah, a carbon tax will not only help tremendously in cleaning up the oil being discharged into the Gulf and washing up on the shore, but it will also stimulate the economy and create jobs, woo-hoo!!
Did you? One quarter of the speech was devoted to clean energy, and another quarter was about religion and praying. I think he devote more time to “The Blessing of the Fleet,” then he did to how he planned on cleaning up the oil. Good grief, this was a very bad speech.

No, I didn't read a transcript, but I watched the speech. My comment about a transcript was in response to someone who didn't believe what NPR said.
