It is only prudent that these fisherman be provided respiratory protection and encouraged to use it. Instead, they have not only NOT been provided respiratory protection, they have been threatened with being fired for using their own respiratory protection.

ISS - BP reportedly threatens to fire cleanup workers for using their own protective gear

C'mon out, all of you little brainless BP defenders and explain way this one. We know you are here because we read all of you lame brained posts on this subject all the time.

Sounds like a dumb idea on the part of BP, but no one is holding a gun to anyone's head to clean this stuff up.

Actually it makes lots of sense. If I use my own respiratory gear to clean up your mess, and my respiratory gear isnt sufficient, YOU can be sued for my life long injuries.. There are FEDERAL standards that much be complied with..

First order of business: Who on this forum do you consider to be "BP defenders?"

I've seen Obama critics, Bush critics, animal-lovers, and general oil-spill disgust, but I don't recall seeing anyone defending BP's practices. Do tell?

Now this makes more sense. Good going federal government, once again making it less efficient and more bureaucratic to fix this mess.

You must realize that I am compelled to ask this question...

Why doesn't BP supply needed federally approved protective gear?

Never been in an oil field, have you?

You wear a respirator every time you pump gas?

Or even our government and then bill BP for them.

Surely they have the statistics from the Valdez spill on what happens to your health if not property equipped to clean up an oil spill.

Thats a valid question, which leads me to ask, who is responsible for providing the gear? BP, who is responsible for stopping the leak, or the federal government who holds liability for the cleanup?
