This following portion from the NY Times reminded me of an article I recently read that asked, "Why don't American's get angry enough to take to the streets anymore". The French protest over the amount of creme in a pastry, the Germans protest if they have to work more than 6 hours a day, and American's wouldn't protest if they were in the middle of a melting economy, two wars, and the largest man made disaster in the nations history. whoop... be back later, Survivor is on.

As a nation, we are becoming more and more accustomed to a sense of helplessness. We no longer rise to the great challenges before us. It’s not just that we can’t plug the oil leak, which is the perfect metaphor for what we’ve become. We can’t seem to do much of anything.
Maybe we are too addicted to hedonistic pleasures, and fear that the "gubmint" can take them away. I ask the same question " WHERE is the outrage ?? Are we afflicted with Sheeple syndrome ?

The media doesn't help the situation.
When the Tea Party gets together for peaceful demonstrations, they are mocked, called names, etc... It is hard to get the word out if the media is in bed with the leadership.
