Not to be bragging or anything but when I was 53 had a 20 yr old girlfriend. She did not look at our age difference but said to me that (men/boys)? her age were imature and she chose to be with someone that was more mature and self confident. It did not last too long as I wanted to be married and she considered herself a liberated woman and did not want any permanent relationship. (bummer for me)

Three yrs later met a 24 yr old single gal who was also into older men. She also did not look at young men as having any education/financial abilities for the future. She did want some companionship but hedged on the marriage part...felt she needed to help her siblings moreso then being married. (another bummer for me). Guess I just don't find the lucky ones out there.

Bottom line is the mental thinking of a young girl regardless of age and what they think is best for themselves and their future.

Remember..."beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".

LOL I pointed that out earlier. And the person who revived it has not posted anything since - I wonder if she is the girl

Bull. If they weren't meant to get married at 16 they wouldn't be able to bear children at 16.

Hmmm... Are you aware that some girls start menstruating at the age of 10? This means they are able to bear children at 10.

Yes, and it's no secret that in some Islamic societies, in Elizabethan England, as well as in some states like Texas and California until the late 1800s, 10 was the age of consent.

I think the age of consent ought to be the age at which most people are capable of bearing or fathering children, which is more like 13 or 14. 16 is absolutely on the "okay" side of the line.

Well, I hope you don't ever visit Spain, Japan, South Korea, Peru, Austria, etc., because you would be really creeped out. I guess Canada was also creepy until they raised their age of consent last year.

In Nevada a few years back, there was a case where a Mom (not the Dad) and a Superior Court Judge, signed off (approved) on a young lady to marry an ... "older" man.

She was 12 - he was mid 40's.

When the Dad found out - he went crazy. Tried to have the marriage annuled - and lost.

12 years old. That is just plain wrong.
