Here is my problem with it. We wont do anything about the millions of illegals here. We wont secure the border. And we continue to grow the parasite social class of our society. But when you have a couple who are contributing and supporting themselves, and they are the ones kicked out. Then Yes, giving all that, I do have a problem with it.
You're playing favoritism here. Why? People on expired visas are illegals too. Aren't they?
Or, are you saying that if people are productive and help the economy, they should not be considered illegal?
They had a temporary E-2 Investor Visa - that would be renewed if they met minimum investor standards. They didn't meet these standards and the visa was not renewed. An investor visa is expected to provide Americans with jobs and be more than a subsistence living for the investors. In this case it was just a small mom-and-pop restaurant in the country with part-time hours and occasional part-time staff. If this the "investor" standard then any Mexican with a taco stand should be allowed to stay.
They knew what the visa rule was when they came ;so now they have to leave. But illegals should be depeorted too with no chance of coming legally IMO.Convicted them of immagration law then exclude on that bases of that conviction.
Here's what i don't get. There are specific and exact qualifications for the E-2. The story says the visa was renewed twice, yet the OP says they've been here 10 years. The E-2 is renewed every 2 years. That's 6 years total if you count the original application. Also, in the description of their business, it says they live debt free. One specific and quite hard requirement of the E-2 is that they have income to support themselves WITHOUT income from the business.
They can also request to change their status. I think there are a lot of details missing here.

- an initial 5 year visa, two 2 year extensions, and 1 year of appeals.
- gross income was $64,000 - a restaurant with gross receipts of only $175/day
- an E-2 is not an immigrant visa - it is a temporary work visa
Aproxamately 50% of the illegals in America did NOT come from Mexico. I've asked people many times on forums if they are just as mad about them as they are about the Mexicans.
Isn't it obvious? The racist left want to kick them out because they are British. They will only support you if you are Mexican.
Actually, if you see this issue as a Mexican versus British issue, you just might be a racist (closet or not). After all, what in the world doesn't make a person, regardless of country of origin, with expired visa an illegal?
It's the old "but everyone else is speeding" argument.
If the Brits want to stay they can become like other illegals and live a risky life in the shadows.
Racist? I could have moved to the US illegally like many Mexicans or exaggerated an E-2 application like the Brits - but I waited in line 10 years to come here legally.

Who says that? You?
