When do you estimate the impending civil war to start? The country is the most divided I have ever seen and the politicians are now outright breaking the law. There is a breaking point for people and I fear it is just around the corner.

You're young. If we did not have a civil war in 1968 I think we can breathe easy.

That is when there were really verifiable divisions in the country, not supposed insurrectionists.

What was going on in 1968? A bunch of hippies wondering when Woodstock would happen?

Americans today are not made of the stuff required to tolerate blood in the streets on a large scale. And, quite frankly that is a good thing. No one wants civil war. If our country is to survive intact peacefully it will do so though Constitutional governance by the people. As long as the checks and balances are returned to the individual branches of power this country can continue to peacefully revolt evry 4 years at the ballot box. If a dictatorship coupe is attempted by the executive branch over the legislative and judicial branches and over the people, all bets are off.

I don't think we have come anywhere near "impending" civil war. I hope we don't. I hope we are wise enough to recognize and correct the political ambitions of a greedy executive and legislative branch and the ways in which they might manipulate the citizens to revolt in an unpeaceful manner. United we stand, divided we fall.

I am not young. I was alive and well in 1968. There were certain issues that people were divided on, but the country is more polarized now across the board. The country is so far of base from what it was designed to be and some people want to keep driving toward socialism while others want to turn the buss around. With the impending bankruptcy due to Obama's historic spending spree and the to be announced huge tax increase on the middle class, the straw will break the camel's back.

I agree, most feel a civil war is a type of "North/South" issue. Just like the civil war fought in 1861 today’s civil war will be over states rights. The breaking point has already been reached and rebellion has started. Arizona is on the front line and other states will soon follow; the federal government has gone too far.

I’ll bet in another 150 years schools will teach that America was holding down Mexicans and we (them, in the future) must pay for our misguided ways.

The civil war was a turning point on what type of gvt we have today and we can thank Old Abe for a strong centralized gvt and weak state rights. And i think you are right that the battle is in the states reclaiming their constitutional role and limiting the power of the federal gvt.
Our country would have more freedom and the people would be much happier,if you wanted a liberal socialist state you could have it.If states choose the conservative route or a mixture they could have that. But under a centralized powerful federal gvt we are all thrown in together and it was never meant to be that way.

I knew they would destroy the country hippys and warmngers .

I can picture the civil ar soldiers now what a motley crew it would be . The only ones able to fight are being killed or injured in the sand pits . The rest of us are too fat and out of shape and our kids are a joke ! Kids may fight though if they try to take away their netflix, wii.
