--really nailed, I mean. Olberman showed a clip of Beck ranting and raving about an alleged lack of balanced media coverage concerning the recently-deceased Senator Robert Byrd's personal history. Why, Beck asks earnestly (with an earnestness that only Beck can feign so expertly), were there no film or tape clips of Byrd filibustering against the Civil Rights Bill when that legislation was before the U.S. Senate? Why did the mainstream media neglect to show some of that historic coverage? Beck asserted that he and his staff (obviously of equally incompetent morons) had looked hard for evidence of any such footage being shown by the evil "mainstream media," and had found absolutely none. None!!
Why would Beck & Co. have failed to find any such thing? Could it be, asked Olbermann, because in the era when civil rights legislation was before the U.S. Congress, NO CAMERAS WERE PERMITTED IN THE CHAMBERS OF EITHER THE HOUSE OR SENATE DURING THE PROCEEDINGS OF THOSE BODIES??!! That being the case, no "mainstream media" or any other media could have found any footage of the filibustering Byrd or of any other person in the Senate speaking on any other subject whatsoever during any session of that body!
I have the hardest time understanding why anyone in the world would take Glenn Beck seriously. I can kind of understand how a couple of the "talking heads" appeal to people of a particular political leaning. I can even understand how some others could lure an unsuspecting person in before they realized that there was something "off" about them. But BECK??? It is so clear, within 5 minutes of watching this guy, that he is either a raving lunatic or an amateur con man that it astounds me that there is anyone in the world who would actually pay attention to a word he says.

Okay, so cameras werent permitted. So I guess if there isnt video you cant report on it?
Oh well. Keith and the media prove Becks point every day. No coverage
of the Black Panther case. No indepth coverage of Obama's latest socialist appointee. So yeah, Keith sure showed Glenn.
As I pause, in thought, on how to address this, I am flabbergasted that anyone would be caught in the Petty Snare of Shallowness that is Keith Olbermann.
Seriously. Stop and think for a moment. "Footage" does not have to be a video of the actual filibuster. "Footage" could be actual television news reports of the filibusters as they were taking place.
I'm not even sure how to put into words how low Keith Olbermann sunk to even mention this issue. And i'm not even sure how to put into words the shallowness of people who latch onto this guy as if he's some sort of purveyor of truth and sanity in news reporting.
I'm embarrassed for Keith Olbermann. I'm embarrassed for those who can't see past the shallowness of his craft.

You people are off on your own planet sometimes.
If he had other means of coverage, he would've said so...

Oh, good try, but you simply cannot explain away the idiocy and lack of competence that goes into Beck's preparation for his spectacle of a show. The entire premise of his rant was about the lack of video because it was being hidden on purpose. Any moron could have determined why there was no video after a quick Google search...any idiot other than Beck, I suppose.

You sort of miss the point that what Beck was ranting and raving about was "where is the video of this man holding up the civil rights act in congress? Why can we find no video of it? What are they hiding?" The point is that they can't find it BECAUSE IT NEVER EXISTED since cameras were not allowed in the congress at the time.... which he was too careless to learn while he was "searching" for non existent video.
And believe me, it WAS reported on at the time....since I well remember it....and Byrd himself mentioned it and apologized for it over and over again himself throughout the rest of his life. And it was certainly talked about several times at the time of his death. Many....including Byrd.....talked about how much he had changed...coming from a former KKK member, going against the civil rights act, to a many who had fought hard for civil rights and helped right many of the laws that support civil rights protection.
You miss the point that Beck is careless with his research, careless with his reporting, careless with the truth.
