While reading at my favorite blog, da King's Men, I found this little thing about one of the most dishonest Congressmen we now have in Congress. How he manages to still be in the Congress is beyond me with this background but I think that he lives in a solid Democrat district or he would have been turned out long ago.

Listen to this story and after you clean the barf off your keyboard let me know what you think about people like Paul Kanjorski. I have a strong stomach and managed to just wretch a little watching his thing and reading da King's attendant article.

Yes he represents a pretty solid Democrat area however he remains in power the same way most of them do that have been there since the Civil War, he brings home the cash. You hear it all the time "Throw them all out" except when they go to the polls no one wants to throw their own out because they lose the power that long term member of Congress holds. This is why we need term limits to get some fresh blood in there about every decade.

You need to understand that Paul Kanjorski comes from a district in Penna. that is dotted with the fading remains of company towns and dotted with closed mines and mine waste piles. It was once a place were a man could put in a honest days work for a fair wage and have a family he could feed, cloth and put a roof over his head. But this is America now and these Americans were put on the dustheap of history. I give Kanjorski a salute for trying to get a little money into his district and with it a little hope.

Bascially watching the govenors meet with the democratic and republican heads of the presidental commission they all agreed that the pig is dead. They said it will change fundalmentals of politics because the defcit will mean no more bringing home the bacon. All talk was about cuts with less federal support coming.

We can only hope his voters realize how crooked he is. Because I'm sure there is alot more he has done. I'm sure the people in his district that lost their money thru bankrupcy weren't happy.

Sorry but I live here and that is far from an accurate representation of this area. Arena, Casino/Horse Racing track just to name two large attractions. It's not some hick backwoods area. We even have two newspapers, how many areas have that?

It's kind of funny because hey showed two artifacts in that piece one of which they would have had to seek out. The one at the start is the Huber Breaker which is the last breaker standing in the Wyoming Valley from years gone by. There are some newer ones but not like that one, they are trying to turn it into a museum.

Huber Breaker Preservation Society has plans for park - News - Citizens Voice

The second one where the reporter is talking about midpoint with the old abandoned building behind him is just the old boiler house from the Stegmaier brewing company. The main building was renovated not too long ago and it's absolutely beautiful. They had plans for the boiler building like a small brewery or restaurant but they fell through.

???, doesn't matter what media organization comes here, they all do the same thing. Find the worst possible scene they can. In any event the Fox piece is entirely accurate as far as Kanjorski goes. The company his relatives were running pulled in millions of taxpayer funds and have absolutely nothing to show for it. When they went bankrupt the only thing they had to show for all those millions was paperwork.

He wastes and squanders. He is part of the problem in DC and the Area he represents. Inflatable damn project comes to mind.

I come from a place in Carbon County called Palmerton which used to be one of the richest towns in Penna. courtesy of the New Jersey Zinc Company. It was also one of the most toxic with contamination from heavy metals like Lead, Cadmium, Sulfur and Arsenic often found in zinc ores. The zinc smelters, acid plant and the paint pigment plant shut down in 1981 so the average income in this boro is now about half the national average. Like a lot of people I got a chance to get a great education and left first for the NYC area and now just outside of Washington DC. Now if you think Kanjorski is bad do you remeber Congressman Dan Flood? One of his great achievements was requiring the US Army to buy and ship NE Penna Anthracite Coal to Germany and Britain to heat US Army barricks, not that you couldn't buy hard coal in Germany or Britain. That kept a couple of mines open for several decades. Well I hold out hope for a future when a desparate America remembers that most of the anthracite is still there and it can be converted into things like water gas (Carbon monoxide and hydrogen) or methane or even fuel oils courtesy of technologies demonstated by the 3rd Reich. Also there is a lot of gas in that old rock (Marcellus Shale).
