The GOP's main position against extending the UE payments, was to insist they be paid for, yet offered no way to pay for it, other than taking it out of Stimulus funds. The Dems know that the Stimulus funds are designed to help create the jobs that the unemployed are looking to find. But the GOP really has no interest in those unemployed, they are not likely to vote Republican in any case.

It's also because the GOP is doing a poor job communicating their message and position. They should be using their money to run some TV ads since the news media isn't bothering to do their job.

One gentleman has been unemployed for 2 years exhausting all his benefits. His regular benefits as well as his Tiers 1 thru 4. He still remains unemployedand has send out 100 resume's a month. Only recently, has he had 5 interviews. Obviously, this gentlemen wants to work in order to support his family. He needs additional benefits and in his case, an addition of a fifth Tier.
No, what this guy needs is a job. And he doesn't have a job largely because of the way Obama has mismanaged the economy. While talking about job creation he lambasts the job creators, hampers them with taxes and regulations and creates uncertainty about the future. Those are all prescriptions for continuing the recession. When will it sink in that borrowing huge sums of money and doling it out to favored constituencies will not turn this economy around? Extending unemployment benefits may keep the lid on the simmering anger out there for now and for the coming election. But it won't last much longer than that.

Do you folks honestly think that all the unemployed are Liberals or Democrats? That Oboma is just catering to his unemployed Liberials? Your retarded.

Employers aren't concerned about your political ties when it comes to laying people off.

I hope alot of you hard core Repubs from the Gulf States are still spewing this same line of crap when the unemployment rates in the Southern Gulf States hit an ALL time high as a consequence of this BP oil spill travesty.

Ask all the Sun-Touched unemployed Repubs living in Nevada if its thier fault that their Primary source of State revenue (Hotel/Entertainment industry) got clobered in the middle of a economic resession. That also includes all the support industries.

Tell them they deserve their 14% unemployment rate and they should crawl under a rock and starve due to the short sightness of thier States leaders of the past century.

The Gulf States are going to see the same shortly. Lets see if your selfish opinions are the same when that happens.

That’s a laugh. You think Fox (aka Fixed/Reality) News is not doing a good job of slandering Democrats with misinformation tidbits.

Did Rush Limbaugh take a long vacation recently?

Did someone finally muffle Sarah Pahlin or her misguided followers?

Did the Tea Baggers miss a TV Cable News opportunity?

The Cheeney Family finally took a long winded brake .. (lol 5 heart attacks .. Thank God for Socialized and Tax Payer funded Socialized Medicine .. He’s still alive).

Maybe the drop in Fox News (and that twisted crew of air heads posing as News Casters) cable viewer ratings are finally convincing any moderately intelligent person to find some other source of verifiable and factual source.

The problem with your message is the messengers and the source. Try reporting some factual verifiable info instead of a twisted Reality show TV tidbits and spamming the radio air waves with opinionated political crap.

Any information source the remainder of the intelligent Independents or Republican hold outs can actually verify as factual information might help your cause and message.

Pelosi, Friday, February 12, 2010:
“PAYGO is a critical step on the path toward deficit reduction and fiscal discipline."

'The PAYGO principle is founded on the simple premise of accountability and honest accounting in the budget process, and it has a proven track record of success. When instituted in the 1990s, it produced record surpluses; when abandoned by the Bush Administration and the Republican-led Congress in the last decade, we were left with record deficits. Today, these irresponsible practices will end.

When Democrats assumed the majority of Congress in 2007, we made ‘pay-as-you-go’ the rule of the House. Now, with the President’s signature, we have made it the law of the land.”

Press Release :: Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, California, 8th District (http://www.house.gov/pelosi/press/releases/Feb10/fiscal.html - broken link)

What makes you think that unemployed men and women will vote in more democrats, when they know they will be voting for even more unemployment?

Lamest excuse I've heard. Democrats are using tarp funds for whatever they want.

If they care so much about the middle class and remember Pelosi said unemployment checks creates jobs then seems it would be fitting way to use it
