You know this is one New Deal project I have always thought had some merit. Why not employ folks out of work or on welfare (who are capable of working) to do road construction and the like? If Obama and the Democrats are so fired up to always emulate FDR why not emulate some of his actions that produced tangible results?

The "New Deal" failed miserably, of course they dont teach you that in school. Unemployment levels were 10% for over a decade...

That depends on if they would have made alternative steps that would have made REAL improvements to lower unemployment...

Increasing the size of government does NOT improve the economy. In order for that growth to take place you have to first remove the money from the conomy which would have been spent or invested.

If the government takes $1B out of the economy for the CCC, thats $1B not circulating resulting in MORE job losses.... More job losses is counter the purpose of the plan which is to increase jobs, so if you want more jobs, you have to let people keep more and encourage them to spend it by offering tax incentives.

If people are spending their money, then companies have to hire to meet the demand, and there are far more employees hired in the private sector than any government could ever produce..

I'd say unions might have an issue like this since
they and George Soros* were and are the big money
behind Obama and his people

How about having people on welfare take drug testing
and do ten hours a week of community service work
so they get the idea that welfare is a hand up not a hand out !

For some silly reason a good part of Americans have bought
into the idea the Big Government knows what's best

Click on the link and see how it's already in place

Who?

My grandfather was a child of the depression. His father got a job working in the corps, and he felt it was a God send.

One mans slavery, is another mans life preserver.

I don't agree with everything FDR did, but the one thing he did was to inspire the people, and give them hope. No one can argue with that. Talk to anyone who was born in the 30's or 40's. Ask them about their situation, and what their parents told them about the depression. 9 out of 10 of them will praise FDR as a savior. He may not have done much in the real world, but he was one hell of a cheerleader.
