The United States is considering selling 84 advanced F-15 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia but without long-range weapons systems objected to by Israel, the Wall Street Journal has reported.
Citing unnamed diplomats and officials, the newspaper said the proposed $30 billion, 10-year package has been under negotiation for months and has generated a lot of tensions.
Israeli officials have been concerned that the administration of President Barack Obama risked undermining Israel’s regional military advantage, the report said.
At this point in time, Israel should not be surprised by this.

Indeed, considering that Saudi Arabia took delivery of its first F-15s in 1981 and had 161 of them as of 2008.

Sweetheart deals keep the oil flowing, of course...
...and bigger, more mushroom shaped gifts that go boom given to Israel help assure we don't have to shoot them down later.
And? We've got the F22, and F35. Both would destroy even the best armed F15 from miles away. The guidance system on the new gen fighters wouldn't even let the 15 get close enough to fire. You look right, boom, you look left boom, you look in front as a precision guided missile hits you in the nose.
Will Israel allow the U.S. to sell these upgraded F-15's? I don't think so. Israel, not the United States calls the shots and makes the final decision regarding U.S. military sales in the Middle East.

Israel will just buy the next gen fighters. I'm sure theirs are already on order, if they don't have training ongoing already.
The U.S. is clamoring to sell these to the Saudi's after the Saudi's in a shock move selected the Eurofighter as it's 21st century front line fighter. The SU-35B was 2nd and the F-35 ran a distant 3rd. The U.S. is desperate to continue it's ties with Saudi and has been clamoring all over them to get them updated F-15's, which they will get their armament from Jordan & Turkey.
The F-15 won't be long-range early defense platforms, therefore their not worried about long-range avionics suites. Their Eurofighters WILL have them. What does the USAF think?
Quote:
In 2004, United States Air Force Chief of Staff General John P. Jumper said after flying the Eurofighter, "I have flown all the air force jets. None was as good as the Eurofighter."
Also...
During the exercise "Typhoon Meet" held in 2008, Eurofighters flew against F/A-18 Hornets, Mirage F1s, Harriers and F-16s in a mock combat exercise. It is claimed that the Eurofighters won all engagements (even outnumbered 8 vs 27) without suffering losses.
Yes...the IAF for sure have something to worry about, especially in long-range engagements.
