There's not a goddam one of them who runs their family budget that way. I voted Republican for the first half of my life. I worked for them in every election, local, state and national. I'm 76 years old and if I ever vote for one of them in a national election again it will hare lip a billy goat.
So you are voting Democrat because you think they will be more fiscally responsible than Republicans? Unfortunately, a politician is exactly the same spendaholic no matter what his political party.

If we all handed over 99% of our incomes to the psychos in Washington, they would spend all that, borrow twice as much and spend that, and then print up another trillion or so in worthless fiat currency and spend that.

There is no way the spendaholics in Washington can EVER hope to come up with a budget that could be paid for simply by confiscating enough from American workers. They have learned that they can spend infinite amounts and get away with it. They cannot go back and limit themselves to spending only an amount the economy could survive. For the exact same reason, a heroin addict can NEVER be put in charge of handing out opiate drugs without supervision. They are incapable of handling that job.

Until every single politician at the local, state and federal levels are put in jail or otherwise taken permanently out of power, our nation will continue to die under the weight of an oppressive and economy-destroying government. We don't put heroin addicts in charge of handing out opiate prescriptions, and we shouldn't put power-mad insanely-greedy politicians in charge of deciding how much money they want to confiscate from us.

Unfortunately, we are all nothing but slaves to the political class. Like the Kings and Emperors of old, they send us bills (now twice year locally since the amounts are beyond nuts) as to how much they want, and our only recourse is years later voting for someone else, who of course will do exactly the same thing. We haven't had a real say in government for so long we don't even recognize the ideal. In an America that wasn't a sick perversion of the ideal, the Town Officials wouldn't DARE to raise property taxes (that were already insane) by thousands more. And if they did, there should severe and violent retaliation. Town Officials simply no longer care if they tax people out of their homes. All they care about is meeting all those legal obligations for lucrative pensions for public retirees, and if every person in town has to be taxed out of the homes they spent their lives paying for, too bad. THis is the world we created for our children. It is insane, unworkable, and unfair in the extreme. We have been well brainwashed as slave classes, and things won't change until we are willing to overthrow our masters.

If you're going to raise military spending, you have to raise taxes. The Republicans don't seem to understand this. Personally I'd favor raising taxes on those making over 1,000,000, and also stopping wasting money by building new bases and weapons we don't need...

Frankly, that's where the cuts should start. I'd cut the military budget by half immediately.

And everywhere outside of the U.S. where U.S troops are stationed, i'd demand that the home country pay for our presence (since i'm assuming that they deem our security to be important) or we start packing up to leave.

I'd only stay in nations where our national interests are vital. And even in those nations there would be only a skeleton force. We have no need to be in Germany (or anywhere in Western Europe), Japan, Korea, and most of the Middle East anymore. Especially not in large numbers.
