Veteran actor James Caan let people in on a little secret last week. After 46 successful years among Hollywood’s most outspoken liberal stars, he’s speaking up about breaking the mold.

“I'm an ultra conservative,” he said at Moet & Chandon’s 6th Annual Hollyshorts Film Festival Opening Night Celebration in Los Angeles.

There have always been both liberal and conservative folks in the entertainment industry. Most just know that they aren't informed enough about the issues to publicly speak of them.

Although I think it's kind of funny that people will continually bash "liberal Hollywood" and those that do speak up by claiming they are all just airheads who don't know anything....until a conservative speaks up and then suddenly they are so very clever and knowledgeable. LOL. Nope, still just an entertainer.

Actually you got to figure in it takes a lot more guts to speak out in hollywood as a conservative than if you just go with the mindless default liberal positions .......so yeah they are smarter!

Nothing you said here makes anyone "smarter".

Unless someone who needs a career boost is looking for some quick publicity

The man is entitled to his opinions, but I'd say that Fox News isn't ultra conservative, and that the Republican party is far from that now.

I also like how he demeans others who exercise their right to free public speech as well, then claims to be a conservative.

Cute, except Hollywood isn't liberal.

The entire industry positively worships at the altar of the dollar, the competition is cut-throat and the business & accounting practices would make Enron executives blush.

Actors are hired for two things: Their ability to pull in an audience and to stay with the project until finished. Nobody cares about their politics and other antics, as long as they don't actively chase off the audience or disrupt production.
