Liberalism under siege is an ugly sight indeed. Just yesterday it was all hope and change and returning power to the people. But the people have proved so disappointing. Their recalcitrance has, in only 19 months, turned the predicted 40-year liberal ascendancy (James Carville) into a full retreat. Ah, the people, the little people, the small-town people, the "bitter" people, as Barack Obama in an unguarded moment once memorably called them, clinging "to guns or religion or" -- this part is less remembered -- "antipathy toward people who aren't like them."

"It is a measure of the corruption of liberal thought and the collapse of its self-confidence that, finding itself so widely repudiated, it resorts reflexively to the cheapest race-baiting (in a colorful variety of forms). Indeed, how can one reason with a nation of pitchfork-wielding mobs brimming with "antipathy toward people who aren't like them" -- blacks, Hispanics, gays and Muslims -- a nation that is, as Michelle Obama once put it succinctly, "just downright mean"?

The Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November. Not just because the economy is ailing. And not just because Obama over-read his mandate in governing too far left. But because a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them."

This from one who openly urges breaking the law. Why would you be taken seriously?

Last refuge?
More like the first refuge, in my experience.

What a lacking viewpoint. Democrats aren't the only side that is full of "arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them." I fear this will only lead to electing the same type of politician with a different letter next to his name.

Oh he was right once back in the 2005 when he called Intelligent Design a "fraud."

Other than that... not so much.

I don't care how wrong he is or isn't, I love the name. Say it, "Krauthammer," now say it again, a little louder and more aggressive, "KRAUTHAMMER!!!!"

Now use it in context; "I got a 12er of Krauthammer, were gonna get a good buzz tonight!"
..or; "I was almost done rebuilding the transmission on my chevy when the krauthammer broke, now i need to replace it as well as all the bearings and seals around it."

or, a soccer reference; "Germany really brought the Krauthammer down on the Italians tonight with a 4-0 victory."

So if I understand it correctly he's French Canadian or used to be anyways. Does his surname come from some ancient relative destroying Germans in battle?
