since February 2009, the government has injected $512 billion into the American economy, but during roughly the same period, the trade deficit leaked about $602 billion out of it and into foreign markets.
Basically, other countries that have withdrawn their own stimulus programs are benefiting from our stimulus, meaning the US is responsible for more than its share of worldwide recovery. The government needs to take measures such as repealing free trade agreements in order to make sure that the stimulus cash stays within our borders.

Yep. As stated a number of times on this forum in other threads. America's greatest export is wealth.

It can't stay within the borders. We can't seem to make 100% of anything without importing it.
We have offshored so much that we have to import to survive and buy basic necessities.

We exported the means of production.
We exported research and development.
We export raw commodities.

We import all the crap that we buy because we can't make it anymore.

The trade deficit has dragged on our economic growth for nearly 40 years, but it has especially accelerated since about 1996. Trade deficit knocks several % points off our quarterly GDP readings.

The funny thing is, we have known for 30 years that this is a problem, but it's not until we have a recession that we realize how much of a hurdle it really is.

I saw a post on here the other dya that says cutting taxes lowers salaries of workers. Well, it also reduces the cost of living as well as we see in the South compared to the North. Well, if cutting taxes lowers salaries, but also lowers cost of living, if we cut taxes even more then that will make Americans cheaper to employ, and our goods would cost less to make, and we'd have a growing edge against China while our purchasing power won't be reduced. Course this is simplifying stuff a bit, but that's what the trend seems to beid you take that route

Really, because until the crash of '08, I remember everytime I expressed a nagging feeling that something was amiss, all the voices I heard were saying that its just the imagination and pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

Its only with all the information that came up afterward that I was like whoaa!

Still as you can see on this very board, ignorance is bliss to too many Americans.

Rising food prices do not indicate that is happening.
Lower salaries but cost of goods is not being lowered..is it ?
