So you are approaching a NYC marina in your boat and underneath the "No Wake Zone" sign is another sign that say "No Smoking." You say to yourself, "I'm in my bleeping boat. I'm outdoors. The marina smells like a bleeping gasoline station. I have to put out my cigarette?"

And I say to that guy, "Buddy, you've got it all wrong. Think of the signage jobs Mayor Bloomberg is creating. Think of all the former NYC hall patrol monitors that may get union jobs to enforce it."

"City officials announced new legislation on Wednesday that would outlaw smoking in parks, beaches, marinas, boardwalks and pedestrian plazas throughout the city. Violators could be issued quality-of-life summonses by the parks department."

NYC to try banning smoking in parks and beaches | The Daily Caller - Breaking News, Opinion, Research, and Entertainment

I guess salt wasn't enough but then again "enough" isn't in the vocabulary of these government control freaks.

Smokers are what...20,25% of the pop..?

If they get organised, with a vote polarisation of 90%,like the blacks, they can form a voting group of 18-20% & bury any anti-smoking politician...

But they are soft, weak & unorganised...

Bloomberg needs to be fired by the people of NYC. He should stick to what he does best, finance.

Well for the "litter" aspect of it, I can understand, Parks and Beaches with butts all over is a bit disgusting.

But I really have to laugh in the Pedestrian Malls, (that are ridiculous anyway), but with all the trucks, cars, buses roaring past with fumes coming from all over, I hardly think I would worry about someone smoking 3 feel away from me. That is ridiculous, and if it bothered me that much, I would just move away, no big deal...

I think Dumberg is going a little ahead of himself this time........Isn't this supposed to be a free country???

The funny part is from your own rant...the marina smells like a gasoline station. You do know you can't smoke when fueling your car don't you? You do know there is a reason for that right? You do know that gas can and will ignite even if mixed with water? you do know that right?

Thank you! What a retard, sort of like somebody in San Bruno smelling the gas and lighting a cigarette while they contemplate calling the gas company.

We know this because it is common sense.
Your example would indicate you agree with me.

I'll bet the marina already has required signage up at it's pumps.

And where is the concern about the marina dumping fuel into the water?

Two entirely different types of gas.

Salt isn't the same as smoking. If you sit next to me and consume salt, it doesn't affect me. However, if you smoke next to me, it does.

This non-smoker says:
If you're outdoors, in the public domain, move.

I'll bet you have farted in public, idled your car near pedestrians, run your furnace when it is cold, peed in the pool...
