I'd imagine it's up past a trillion.

Real estate, holdings, bonds, stocks, and artifacts, buildings, masterworks of art, and everything in between. There's also no way to tell how MUCH of each the Vatican has, besides paper numbers. I'm sure it would take that army of accountants YEARS to dig up all the stuff.

Yup, somewhere between a trillion and priceless. Some things you simply CANNOT put a price on.

Well when I give to charity I know I can trust Catholic Charities to get the money to the place it should go. I don't trust the government at all with my charity money. Our parish bulletin shows me each week how much they have and where it is being spent.

I think most people trust their own neighborhood church, whatever church it is, with their charity money.

You couldn't make a dime. They cost money. No taxes no dimes.
I have a related question how much money could you save if like janelle said about her church were true for our Representatives in Washington.
Our Government bulletin shows me each week how much they have and where it is being spent.

By in large you probably can, but that is not a guarantee:

A federal grand jury today indicted a former Catholic Charities caseworker who allegedly funneled homeless housing aid to people who didn't qualify and then took a cut of the money.

Heck, you will always have thieves in every organization where big money is involved. Keep it at the local level so it can be managed is the answer.

Those crooks were caught.

Thanks. That's about $325 billion if I'm not mistaken. Stick that in a Treasury note earning 3% annually, and that's $9.75 billion.

I don't know how much the church has in investments but I do know a lot of it goes to the poor and homeless.
