I agree. I don't get excited about this one.

What's best for the child is a stable, loving home. The gender of the parent or parents is irrelevant.

I will admit I am far from perfect and I have a 3 year-old daughter from a previous relationship. My little girl lives with her mother and her lesbian partner, both have stable jobs, are able to put food on the table, and pay rent and their bills like clockwork.

Meanwhile I have truly screwed up with my own finances to the point I am barely making ends meet for myself, let alone supporting a 3 year-old child. And to say that homosexuals are not good parents is outrageous. If you take my former girlfriend's situation and mine and call her and her partner bad parents, tell me what constitutes a good parent because I don't know the answer to that one.

I guess some people believe that because you have a male and female married and living in the same house that all is perfect.
By their assessment, there is no child abuse or neglect, spousal abuse or any other negative actions/conditions occurring in a two gender parental unit.
They're wrong.

It's as simple as that.

I suppose for the opponents of this decision, the big government nanny state is just wonderful, for raising kids at least. Apparently they think it's a better option than a stable couple who actually is READY for a child (is this always the case?), who happen to be of the same gender.

They sure aren't ponying up and adopting these unwanted children themselves.

finally someone saw how stupid that law was. 140,000 foster and orphaned children in the US and perfect couples (no matter their gender) are denied adoption because they happen to be lesbians or gays.

Finally my state(soon to be former state-woohoo!) does something right. One day we will look back at the bigotry and wonder how ppl ever thought that way. I'm really starting to like Crist too, going Indep. has really freed him from party ideology which has enabled him to make much better decisions.

Nice, thoughtful, deep. Per usual.
