The French Revolution was a bourgeois revolution like the American Revolution, not a proletarian revolution. (I presume you're talking about the French Revolution of 1789-97 not the Paris Commune of 1871, the world's first communist revolution.) It was against Church and King.
It did get really out of hand and violent but wasn't communist.

Violence is the only thing that has EVER solved anything or brought about REAL change. It should always be a last resort but for the most part is usually a necessary one. It's going to take a violent uprising against current government to really change the course of this country. Americans need to wake up and face this fact and get their lives in order for that day is fast approaching. Otherwise America will fade into history as a noble idea but utter failure.
And they badly needed it. Before the French Revolution, peasants paid 100% of taxes while inherited nobility paid none.
It wasn't a capitalist society even, so it really doesn't figure into contemporary political discourse at all.
I tend to disagree. In French society you had rich people who didn't really care to address the issue of social inequality. That is VERY relevant with regard to what is going on in America today.
We are rapidly becoming a society of self appointed aristocrats running the economy and government for their own wealth and protection. Unlike feudal nobility our aristocrats do not believe they owe any service to anyone. This lack of responsibility removes their legitimacy and makes them little more than sophisticated thieves.
