"His health insurance plan (the Federal Employee Health Program), which also covers Sharron, is a continuation of what he was receiving while he worked for the federal government.”
Under this rule, are they any different than other retired federal government workers? Somehow I don't understand what is different.
Paragraph 1: I am not deflecting. The truth of the matter is that Ms. Angle and her hubby are receiving health care largely paid for by the federal government. My accusations as such are not silly, they happen to be the truth.
since the husband works for the federal government, and they provide PRIVATE insurance as a benefit, your accusation is in fact silly.

What a surprise! Another hypocrite Tea Party candidate. Does Mrs. Angle think that she can keep these dirty little "Socialist/Big Government" secrets hidden? Apparently so if you look at her platform.
Throughout her campaign for U.S. Senate in Nevada, GOP candidate and tea party favorite Sharron Angle has railed against government intervention in just about everything. Angle said she wants to “personalize” Social Security, and she even went so far as to suggest the possibility of an armed insurrection against the U.S. government to protect “against a tyrannical government.” Part of Angle’s anti-government philosophy has also included health care. She wants to repeal the new health care law and recently attacked mandating coverage for autism and maternity leave. She even suggested that Medicare and VA coverage work “towards a privatized system.” But Politico notes today that Angle this week admitted that both she and her husband benefit from government subsidized health care: Think Progress » Sharron Angle And Her Husband Receive Government Health Care
So? Much as I detest a lot of the tea party tactics, this is a non-issue for all the reasons others have already laid out in this thread.

What is silly about telling the truth, that the feds are paying part of the premium for her health insurance. No different than Medicare, which is not administered by the feds, they contract out to PRIVATE insurance companies.

are you sure you want to take that stand? the federal government is the one that administers medicare and medicaid, not a private company. medicare advantage is the one that is administered by a private company. a couple of links for you;
you are wrong about medicare and medicaid, and you are wrong about the benefits that angles husband gets as an employee of the federal government. again it is not about the federal government paying for part of an employees private insurance, it is about the health care reform law fiasco that will force everyone ultimately into a single payer government run health care system.
It's nice to see so many people interested in Nevada politics. Tell me, how many of you can actually cast a VOTE in Nevada? I can, and mine is going to Angle.

Have a nice day.
As bad as Reid is, it is hard for me to believe you'd actually consider voting for that nutcase.

Oh, no I'm not wrong. From Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_(United_States) Since the beginning of the Medicare program, CMS has contracted with private companies to operate as intermediaries between the government and medical providers.[5] These contractors are commonly already in the insurance or health care area. Contracted processes include claims and payment processing, call center services, clinician enrollment, and fraud investigation.

Angle’s campaign acknowledged to Nevada journalist Jon Ralston Monday that both the candidate and her husband receive health care from the federal government. Spokeswoman Ciara Matthews said in a statement: “Mr. Ted Angle receives his pension through the (federal) Civil Service Retirement System. While it is not supplemented by the federal government, current civil servants pay into the program to pay the schedule of those already retired – much like how the Social Security Program works today. Mr. Angle does not qualify – nor does he receive Social Security benefits. His health insurance plan (the Federal Employee Health Program), which also covers Sharron, is a continuation of what he was receiving while he worked for the federal government.”
So apparently, she and her husband - as well as all government employees - "deserve" government health care" for the rest of their lives.
It's just the rest of us that don't deserve to benefit from government programs such as Medicare, Social Security and VA Hospitals for those who literally laid down their lives for this country, many of whom have paid a huge price for serving in our country's military...
It doesn't matter to them that few companies in America have pension plans or that few people are able to work for one company long enough to retire with a pension, these days. In my state, teachers who once had a similar retirement benefit have lost "health care" continuation as part of their retirement package.
And, btw, it's highly likely that because the Angle's are able to purchase their insurance through the government's large group plan they are paying the same price for their premium as someone 20 years younger would pay - regardless of their health or age.... They're not faced with skyrocketing premiums due to their age and they're not being forced to choose outrageously high deductible policies in order to afford any health insurance at all.
All that matters to the proponents of the changes that Angle wants is that they're "safe" from the consequences that all of their ideas bring with them.
That makes it easy for them to judge the how things should be for the rest of America.
