Am I missing something? - If Meg knew of this womans illegal status for years prior to when she was fired why did the woman think it necessary to tell Meg in 09? And when fired why does she come out now? Furthermore, I would like to know how this woman sought out Gloria or was it the other way around?

Also, Gloria gave $$$ to Jerry Brown at least twice that I have heard of in prior years.

This whole things stinks.

I consider myself as an independent so I wish to take the liberal vs conservative angle out of the equation.

This matter does appear to be a set up to embarras Whitman----the timing, the choreography, the involvment of Brown and Allred are all suspect and point to an orchestrated effort on someones part to denigrate Whitman.

Anytime Allred gets involved in anything these days its a TMZ related fiasco. Why did this employee wait after she was employeed nine years to claim that she was humilated and abused by Whitman----abuse and mistreatment are usually grounds to leave employment even if the employee is a so called illegal.

This whole matter has an oderous and pungent tinge----this smacks of reality television.

I don't think Brown had anything to do with this. It's not really his style (although his dad wouldn't have had a problem with such tactics). It's someone operating independently of the Brown campaign. I wonder if it's Allred herself. She's a publicity monger, and perhaps she's interjecting herself in the election in order to test the waters for running for some sort of office herself.

Default If Christine O'Donell had a sense of humor she would dress up as a witch for halloween

That would be awesome. I think it would make her more likable. I'd give her a thumbs up for doing it. Reagan would poke fun of himself all the time.

Allred added that Whitman ignored correspondence sent to her home from the Social Security Administration in 2003. The letter informed her that Diaz' Social Security number (http://topics.sfgate.com/topics/Social_Security_number - broken link) did not match her name - a red flag for an undocumented worker. The letter asked Whitman to show that Diaz had proper documentation, Allred said, and there is no record that Whitman had responded.
Hmmm.

"Gloria Allred has taken up the cause of Diaz-Santilla, claiming the Republican candidate was aware of her illegal status for the length of her employment, and merely fired her for political reasons." “We find it very curious that after nine years of employment something like this would be brought forward 35 days before the election."

Why do billionaires hire illegal immigrants anyway?!

Nice try anyway.

Once she found the illegal committed perjury she surely would not give her severance knowing she already broke the law.

I can see it now, if she would have given her a severance you would be all over that too!

The illegal lied on her application period. She committed perjury and needs to be tried, her record noted and deported.
As a liberal, I completely agree. The woman unknowingly (as of right now) hired this woman, she asked for all of the documentation any employer would have. The woman lied, she needs to be punished, not the other way around. As far as I am concerned this is simply dirty politics, as usual.

You're assuming there will be a backlash, and you're assuming it will take him down. Let's see if you're right or not.

What about the heads-up from Social Security in 2003?

How convenient! I guess you believe in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, and the Easter Bunny. Unless this can be independently verified by a third party I'm not buying.

The maids story also needs to be independently verified as well.
