Given his earlier words in the interview about the declining position of the American worker, that statement could be read "they feel it's imperitive to go, they have to do it," not "they are required by Union leadership to go or else they will face punishment."

The interviewer didn't ask any follow-up for clarification.

The majority of people who are going to be there do not work on Saturdays.

Where do you get that idea from, do truckers, railway workers, port workers etc not work weekends in the US?
