I've never understood faith - believing in something without proof or reason. It seems the antithesis to what it means to be human.

So? That has nothing to do with the price of tea in China.

The 'truth' is highly speculative.

Your truth is obviously different than my truth. I find the bible to be nothing more than the myths of ancient peoples who had no idea how the world works, so they attributed rather amazing phenomenon to easy to understand explanations.

I don't think science disproves the Bibles idea of creation - it may disprove some peoples 'interpretation' of what that creation is and means.

Faith is not just the absence of 'proof' nor necessarily 'unreasonable.' Faith can be based on all kinds of premises that are factual, it can be an infrence from the best explanation, or just simply an infrence from possibility. Faith is not just 'blind' faith per-se.

God did not create the universe, says Hawking

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes.

"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going."
